Natural Home Cures Himalayan Crystal Salt Contains Phosphorus (P)
Phosphorus is an important trace element but thankfully it is one which is widely available in nature. That said, it’s always a good idea to make sure you’re getting enough of this important element in your diet because it is used in a wide array of processes within the human body. Phosphorus is a cellular component, showing up in the phospholipid bilayer of the cell. The bilayer is a membrane which separates the environment inside the cell from the environment outside the cell and allows chemical signalling as well as transport of various molecules to take place. The body uses phosphorus as a signalling or switching mechanism to initiate various biochemical processes. The act of adding or removing a phosphor compound to or from a molecule is called phosphorylation or dephosphorylation, respectively phosphorus is also found in DNA and RNA, meaning it is required for cellular replication.
Phosphorus is also a component of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which is the energy source used to power the body. Despite its importance as a cellular component, most of the phosphorus in the body are found in the bones. Without phosphorus, our bones would lose much of their durability.(1)
